Big Ride Across America - ALAW
Bruce and Kathy are doing the BIG ride across America sponsored by the American Lung Association of Washington (ALAW). The ride begins June 23rd in Seattle and ends in Washington DC August 9th. 3300 miles in 48 days of bicycling bliss!
Hi Bruce and Kathy! My name is ane klomps. I did the ride last year. I am just writing to wish you good luck. I wont be there tomorrow to lead you out of town, but i certainly will be thinking about all of you as you begin. May your journey be full of delicious pb and js, tailwinds a plenty, and inspiring new relationships and conversation. Have fun!! Ane
Maybe it's the "mid-life crisis" or maybe just "temporary insanity" whatever, good luck, Bruce. We will be in WA for Milltown I, I believe...maybe you will be back by then...hope to see you there, if you survive!
Your Riddle/Morton family are so proud that you are off on your adventure... We will be anxious to hear the updates... The photo of the two of you taking off was so inspiring... I like to think beside your earthly support teams there is a big gathering of heavenly support led by Uncle Bud, your folks and mine all enjoying every moment...love ANUT PAT and all
What an awesome undertaking! Wishing you all the best! An acquaintance of mine did this years ago before blogging was a big deal and it was just super great to follow along! Will be watching for updates!
While I am a biker myself some peoplecan only dream of an adventure like this. You folks are making it live. What a phenomenal goal! Let the games begin. PB&J's will nevr look the same after this. Enjoy the whole of the trip, the country sides, the smells, the wind in your face and anything else that comes your way. Most of all laugh often at the whole of it. Good luck, stay safe and we'll be following the many blogs of the different ones on this adventure. Angie+Bud

Team Uncle Bud
Bruce & Kathy
Who is Uncle Bud?
Uncle Bud was Bruce's oldest brother and Kathy's Dad. He and Bruce had planned to do this ride together when Uncle Bud retired. Unfortunately Uncle Bud passed away in March of 2003. Bruce and Bud began biking together when Bruce was in his mid 40s and Bud was in his mid 50s. (They were both over the hill and so decided to climb some more.) Kathy and Bruce have been training since the beginning of the year for this memorable occasion in memory of Kathy's Dad. Go Team Uncle Bud!
"Tell me what you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"

FYI
Beth and Dad (aka Bruce) are the writers for this blog (with others contributing whether they know it or not). We will update as often as possible but Dad is finding that he doesn't always have internet capabilities. Some items/text added may be by word of mouth so the accuracy might be questionable...but even when it's straight from the horse's mouth it's questionable.*grin Dad may just email events and pictures and Beth will post or Beth will just make up stuff to write and have Joe draw the pictures. Either way...ENJOY!
