And they're off!

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Porsche called Dad (Bruce) at 7am, Dad answered and Porsche said, "Why are you answering your phone you should be riding right now!"
But no, they(Kathy and Bruce) were busy getting interviewed by some TV Station about The Big Ride and Team Uncle Bud. Then they had some group photos. They weren't "off" until around 7:30ish!

Here they are being interviewed.

Setting their speedometers back to zero! (in memory of Uncle Bud, may their milage never match up!)

Here is the group! They raised a lot of money for a good cause.

AND THEY'RE OFF!

Ginny, Steve, Samantha and Alex met them at Bothell Landing and bicycled along with them to Marymoor park where others were busy waiting!

How in the world can you be BUSY waiting? Just look below!

Joe, Mircea and Carter make posters for Grandpa and Kathy.

Danny just hung out.

They finished the posters just in time cause who should come around the corner but...

The bike riders and the wannebes!

Only 3,280ish miles to go! Good luck!

I like the top photo, Bruce, where you are being interviewed by the TV guy. I don't know, somehow it reminded me of one of those "Big Wheel" bike riders back in the late1800's & early 1900's...Except, a handle bar mustache would be nice. Maybe on this trip you can grow your mustache out...curl it a little and really look like an old time bike rider! Good riding.

Way to go Bruce and Kathy! Eternal hills, relentless wind, heat, and then the daily fun of setting up camp, making PB&Js and living with your fellow riders.

From one Big Rider to another, Congratulations! You are now part of the family.

How'd you like that big hill down into Spokane? But did you ever think the ride into spokane would ever end?

Well you are doing great and you have earned a good rest.

This next week is when i got hurt. Just to much riding with not enough healing, so take care. Stretch a lot. Call if you have injuries or saddle sores and want advice. I lend my hand to you.

Otherwise High fives to both you and Kathy. I know the famlies seem far away but we are all watching and they are not so far.

Keep up the good work. Tomorrow will be a new state and some great scenery.

Ride Big! Do Good!
Andy 2007 Big Rider.

BTW- I have pics from Day 1 of you. Have someone email me with an email address to send the to you.
