From the Top!

Bruce just called to say Happy Anniversary (#37) from the top of McDonald Pass! Elevation 6,325 feet. That was the one remaining pass he had always wanted to cross. They had a beautiful day leaving Avon, which was only 11 miles from the pass on Highway 12. Temp. in the 70's and a slight tail wind going up (3-4 mph) They got to the top of the pass around 9Am (MST) The town of Avon consists of a bar and a hotel. (He didn't mention where they stayed the night!) Then there is the Last Chance Hotel 4 miles from the summit. It's been a beautiful ride so far. They have seen a variety of wildlife: deer, moose, bear (there was one bear near camp, but he didn't see it), lots of eagles, osprey and other birds too. They will stop at a bike shop in Helena today for one of their rest stops. Then continue on to Townsend where they will sleep inside the High School tonight.

Some Family and Friends will stop in to visit him tonight.
